How to find us

Ardagh is situated about 10km south east of Longford town on the R393 and 6km from Edgeworthstown off the N55.
The parish is centered around the villages of Ardagh and Moydow.

Ardagh from the Irish 'Ardachadh' means high field or high ground. The present village was built  around Ardagh House by the Fetherson family in the early18th and 19th century based on a design by a Victorian architect, and has many unique features, including an impressive clock tower and a lych gate - one of only three in Ireland.

Moydow or as it is called by the Four Masters 'Magh - dumha' - the place of the burial mound' is about six miles to the west. It gives the name to the barony of Moydow and was once the centre of the O'Quinn territory.
